In August, we’ll have some new worship experiences coming our way. Throughout the month, we’ll be engaging different popular movies in our time of worship that connect with our scripture of the day. Each week, we’ll have an opportunity to watch the movie at church so when Sunday morning comes around you’ll already have an idea of what it coming! While you won’t have to watch the movie to have a good worship experience these Sundays, it will certainly help.
We call this “Journeys of Faith at the Cinema” because each film will involve a journey of some kind by the main characters, and we get to journey along with them. Here’s how it will work. Starting Sunday, July 26, at 6 PM in Fellowship Hall, we’ll have a reading of the next Sunday’s scripture, followed by a movie showing. Then, you’ll have all week to explore how the scripture and the movie connect. On the next Sunday morning, worship will be themed to that movie, including sermon thoughts and music selections. If you aren’t able to make our screening, you can watch the movie and read the scripture at home as you are able.
Here’s our schedule, with a week off for Schweizer Fest. Come join in the fun and fellowship as we explore ideas of faith in the popular culture we experience every day!
